Is this new information? I have listened to some of his sermons recently online, and he used the NIV, not the TNIV.

On a side note, I have noticed both Erwin McManus and John Ortberg both preach from the NIV even though they "endorse" the TNIV on the TNIV web page. Rob Bell is the only endorser of the TNIV that I have actually heard preach from it regularly. Why is this?

And another thing...

I think Rob Bell is also one of the only TNIV "endorsers" to use the TNIV in his books. If the TNIV is ever going to gain readership, Zondervan needs to encourage its authors to use the TNIV more instead of the NIV.

Does anyone know of anyone (pastor/teacher) who regularly uses the TNIV as their text, or a writer who uses it as their main scripture? I have only heard of Rob Bell and Dr Fee.

Thanks for the info, Rick. I have used the TNIV as my main translation for over 3 years now and love it. I am a member of a SBC church, and sometimes when I hear comments about the TNIV, I feel like I should carry it to church in a brown paper bag! I try to explain translations issues, but usually I get a dull stare. I suggest that they read "How to Read the Bible for all its Worth" and "How to pick a translation for all its worth" to explain it. Hopefully more 'high profile' people will start using it.
